Guannan received his B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from Liaoning University, where he involved in the research of enantioselective amination of alcohols via a hydrogen-borrowing strategy under the guidance of Prof. Yao Zhang. In 2018, Guannan moved to Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to pursue his M.Phil. in Chemistry, harnessing the power of organocatalysis to develop new reactions of strained 4-membered rings under the supervision of Prof. Jianwei Sun. Currently, Guannan’s research interests are to optimize sensitive but valuable reactions and to explore novel transformations with heterogeneous catalysts. In his spare time, Guannan enjoys working out, playing guitar, and listening to jazz music.
